First National Bank of Polk County has recently become a target of a third party debit card scam. As part of this scam, customers have received phone calls where the caller states that the customer’s debit card will soon expire. The caller asks that customer for his debit card number and PIN so that a new card can be ordered. Please be aware that First National Bank will never place a call asking you to provide your debit or check card number, PIN, Social Security Number, full account information or other confidential information. If you receive a phone call of this nature, we encourage you to hang up and contact the Bank.
"There has been an increase in these types of fraudulent phone calls and emails throughout the industry. We are committed to keeping your personal and account information safe from unauthorized access,” said Laron Maloney, President of First National Bank of Polk County. “We are working with local law enforcement officials to identify these individuals who are misrepresenting the bank. We want to remind customers and the citizens of Polk County that you should never give out your personal information, if you have not initiated the phone call yourself."
